Living and Loving When Your Heart Is Broken

I hope you know you are whole even when it feels like part of you is missing.

I know that losing a person we love can leave a hole in our heart.

Losing part of ourselves when life changes in unexpected ways can leave a hole in our heart.

So if you are grieving someone or some part of yourself today, I want you to know I feel you, and I am so sorry.

I know that there may never be a way to fill that hole, yet I also know that it is filled with love from the person you’ve lost … or the You you are remembering.

It’s filled with love from your relationship and from the bond you two still share.  Even when you can’t see it, that love is filling that space every day.

Your heart is still loving others.

That person’s love is in there loving you too.

You are still made of love, enough love to overflow into that space.

So the thing is, we can choose to say “I’m broken” over and over,

and we can choose to use this as an identity whenever it makes us feel better about our pain by reminding people we have been a victim of life.

Or

we can choose to believe the truth:

We are not broken

even when our heart is.

I hope you choose the truth today.

You are whole.

You are love.

And you are truly and greatly loved.
