The Best Tears

Dear Cancer,

The tests say you are undetectable now.

I still get scared

and we’re still in recovery

and nothing in life is the same as it was before we met you.

I know we still have more fighting to do

but just know that when I cry

these days

many of these tears are tears of joy.

Tears of gratitude.

Tears of relief.

These tired tears are some of the best tears I’ve ever cried

in my life.
